From my earliest memories I’ve always known I wanted to play drums.
Pots, pans, cottage cheese containers, boxes…nothing in our home was
safe from being used as a drum at one time or another.  My parents
always enjoyed listening, playing and dancing to music.  Music has always
been an integral part of my life.

While I’m inspired by drummers such as Jean-Paul Gaster, Neal Peart,
Tommy Lee, Alex Van Halen, Carter Beauford and Danny Carey, my
parents and my Uncle Rick were most influential in developing my life-long
love of drumming.

Because of academics, sports and other extra-curricular activities, I was
able to sneak through high-school ensembles without much effort.  I was
quickly humbled at the college level on the snare line at UW-Whitewater.
Quickly realizing I was the weak link, I seized the opportunity to learn from
other drummers that were, and will always be, much more talented than
me.

Towards the end of college I joined a band named Questionable
Inasense.  We enjoyed playing the Whitewater and Milwaukee area for a
couple of years in the early nineties.  Then, in the mid-nineties I joined a
band called Bottom Line.  We enjoyed nearly three years of playing rock-n-
roll in the Kenosha, Whitewater, Union Grove and Milwaukee area with a
couple of shows in northern Illinois and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

After Bottom Line ran its course, I took a break from drumming to focus on
family, career and buying a home.  In the fall of 2007, I joined a classic
rock/classic R&B band called Under Cover.  We continue to enjoy playing
occasional gigs in the Lake Geneva area.

In every band that I’ve jammed with, I’ve had the pleasure of playing with
very talented musicians and Altered State is no different.  The previous
drummer, Matt Merz, left big shoes to fill but I believe my experiences have
prepared me to take on this challenge.
